Participating in the African Women in Global Leadership Programme (AWGLP) was a deeply rewarding and transformative experience. It gave me the opportunity to reflect on my leadership journey and strengthen my commitment to purposeful and inclusive leadership.
AWGL highlighted that leadership is defined by service, influence, and impact rather than position. The programme addressed the challenges women face in leadership and provided practical tools, confidence, and strategies to navigate and overcome these barriers. Its focus on digital literacy, innovation, and inclusive governance also offered valuable insights for driving meaningful change.
Beyond the learning, AFLIGA created a network of supportive and inspiring African women leaders. The connections, shared experiences, and collective wisdom continue to motivate me. The programme has reinforced my resolve to promote inclusive leadership, capacity building, and innovation within the Civil Service and beyond. I wholeheartedly recommend AFLIGA to women seeking to grow as leaders and make a positive impact.

Participating in AFLIGA’s African Women in Global Leadership Programme, was a profoundly enriching experience. Over five intensive weeks, I engaged with seasoned facilitators whose insights challenged my thinking and deepened my understanding of leadership in a rapidly evolving global environment. The programme also created a strong learning community, offering valuable mentorship from facilitators and meaningful networking with participants across disciplines and countries.
As a researcher, one of the most transformative aspects was undertaking a hands-on mini-research project on Manager gender preference and leadership perception. That assignment, alongside others on intersectionality, power, and leadership bias, was a real eye-opener. It pushed me to question long-held assumptions, connect theory with lived realities, and rethink how leadership is perceived, practiced, and evaluated, particularly within African contexts.
Beyond its academic value, the programme reshaped my personal outlook on leadership and gender. I now approach these issues with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose. The graduation ceremony, which featured prominent speakers from across the world, was a fitting conclusion to a programme that truly stretches both mind and vision.
As a proud member of the first cohort, I can confidently say this programme is not just a learning experience; it is a transformation. I strongly encourage anyone considering the second cohort to take the leap, it is a meaningful investment in thought leadership for a changing world.

My experience with the African Women in Global Leadership Programme (AWGLP) was truly transformative. The programme equipped me with critical leadership competencies and practical skills required to thrive in complex professional environments. Beyond exploring diverse female leadership styles, the programme deepened my understanding of the systemic barriers confronting women leaders in Africa and provided strategies for navigating and overcoming them.
Through structured mentorship and a rigorous curriculum, I gained valuable insights into ethical and sustainable leadership, corporate performance enhancement, and the power of strategic networking. The programme also strengthened my capacity in policy prioritisation, decision making ,conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and negotiation and mediation skills – key areas shaping national and global governance.
Equally impactful was the exposure to gender dynamics in global affairs, geopolitics, and women’s role in driving Africa’s global integration and trade. AWGLP further highlighted how digitisation , digitalisation, and innovation can be leveraged to enhance career growth, entrepreneurship, and leadership influence on both national and international platforms.
This experience empowered me to amplify my voice in advocating for gender equity and inclusion, while challenging the intersectional barriers that limit women’s leadership potential. I strongly recommend this programme to women aspiring to leadership roles at national, regional, and global levels. I express my profound gratitude to Africa Future Leaders of Global Affairs (AFLIGA) for mounting this enlightening programme.

The African Women in Global Leadership training programme, is facilitated by AFLIGA’s highly driven lecturers who are exceptionally knowledgeable and well versed in critical trending global topics, provides a series of hands-on assignments that mould one to fit in the corridors of leadership and governance.
Participants examine a series of real-life case studies to enhance their problem-solving skills and sharpen their intellect, thereby positioning one in readiness for leadership opportunities.
The programme encourages students to emulate fellow Africans who are well-established in politics, business, academia, etc. This approach aligns with nurturing Africans through African lenses for a better Africa, in line with the sustainable development agenda.
It is Afro-future centric giving salience and prominence to empowering the youth dividend and previously marginalised groups with skills and knowledge to navigate the changing global trends with a key focus on driving the region’s socio-economic development agenda.
The program allows students to garner expertise in Governance, Diplomacy, and Entrepreneurship, and also provides an arena for networking as it links students with influential leaders, thought leaders, and policy makers within the continent.
With the African Women in Global Leadership training programme, AFLIGA is clearly spearheading the development of women and youth leaders in Africa.
