The change we seek for the future of Africa Begins with us

The Africa Future Leaders Institute of Global Affairs (AFLIGA) is a pioneering five-month leadership and development programme designed to equip Africa’s Youth and emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and professionals with the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to drive transformative change across the continent. Through a blend of academic rigour, real-world application, and expert mentorship, this programme tackles the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing Africa today, providing participants with a unique platform to explore themes such as leadership, governance, entrepreneurship, Africa’s integration into the global economy, and sustainable development.

Each week of the programme is anchored in a carefully curated thematic area that draws from global best practices and cutting-edge research, all contextualized for Africa’s distinct socio-economic and political realities. Participants will engage with complex issues such as Africa’s governance landscape, the implications of globalisation, the financing challenges of the African Union (AU), private sector development, gender and development, Technology, Security and the AfCFTA’s role in positioning Africa in the global trade arena.

The Programme's design emphasizes experiential learning through case studies, interactive discussions, and simulations inspired by the world’s leading academic institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Oxford and other leading policy think tanks, research institutes and centres from Africa and the rest of the world. Participants will not only acquire theoretical insights into the development challenges facing Africa but also build actionable skills and strategies to address these issues in their own spheres of influence.

This holistic approach ensures that participants graduate with not only an in-depth understanding of the key drivers of African development but also practical solutions to implement in their leadership roles—whether in government, the private sector, or civil society.

AFLIGA is not just another leadership and enterprise development initiative; it is a catalysing, youth-centric transformative movement. Its value lies in its ability to:

  • Experiential Learning Approach: A blend of case studies, real-world policy simulations, and industry mentorship.
  • Leadership for AfCFTA & Economic Integration: Training programs tailored to equip leaders with skills for implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and fostering regional economic development.
  • Mentorship & Global Networking: Access to influential leaders in government, business, and civil society, enabling real-world career pathways.
  • Gender & Youth-Centric Model: AFLIGA champions 50% female representation and focuses on equipping Africa’s youth with leadership and policy expertise.
  • Scalable Impact Model: A goal to train 54,000 African leaders by 2034, ensuring measurable change across all 54 countries.

By addressing the root causes of Africa’s leadership and enterprise development challenges and focusing on transformative outcomes, AFLIGA stands as a beacon of hope for a continent yearning for visionary leaders.
